Our Mermaid Treasure Pendant is a darling miniature bottle filled with precious mermaid treasure which consists of baby seashells, white 'fish netting', glass bits that sparkle in the sunlight and tiny beads. The blue fluid is... well... we can't tell you because it is a magical, secret solution known only by mermaids and mermen. But we can tell you that it is non-toxic. The top has a very tight, secure fit. It comes with a pewter starfish charm tied on with raffia.

For those of you who believe in recycling (as we do) you should know that the glass bits inside the bottle are actually, and you aren't going to believe this, tiny bits of broken windshield glass. Nifty huh? Mermaids collect EVERYTHING!

Vibrance Competition at Nanaimo Arts Council Gallery

Well, time is ticking by so fast with so much to do! Welcome to my world... self-inflicted of course.

Before I go to Hawaii (yes I am going to Hawaii! How cool is that?) I want to enter the fall competition at the Nanaimo Arts Council Gallery and this photo will be one of my entries. It did not occur to me, until a few days after I had finished it, that the colours were perfect for fall! I do have a knack for missing the obvious! Anyhow, 'Visione di Domani' means 'Vision of Tomorrow' in Italian. I felt it needed a rather romantic, mysterious name so my son, Gord, helped me with some great ideas. Thanks Gord! This piece is the beginning of, what I hope to be, many more. It is also for sale on our A2Sea Photography site. If you are artistic, you may be interested in checking out the Nanaimo Arts Council Gallery and perhaps enter your own work! They always have a ton of competitions and events going on!

Our two Etsy shops will be closed for a couple of weeks and will re-open again on October 5th, 2009. We apologize for any inconvenience. Our booth, however, will be down at the Nanaimo Farmer's Market on September 29th from 10 am to 3 pm, down by the waterfront on Front Street beside the Bastion. I will not be there but Cheryl will be, along with her friend Janice who will be helping. Be sure to check our booth out, even if to just visit with us and have some fun! Keep in mind that Christmas will be here before you know it and we have so many great gift ideas and stocking stuffers!

NAME THE PHOTO CONTEST!

Lately, I have been enamoured with layering in photography. It just gives the images a wonderful artistic, mysterious mood that I am so attracted to. The only problem is, I need to learn how to do it in Photoshop because it is quite time-consuming on the archaic computer program that I use. So my goal in the very near future, without fail, must be to tackle that hurdle.

This latest photo of mine is a mix of two different photos I had taken, which I brought all together with a palette of colour and textures in the background. I have a "Name the Photo" Contest going on at present on Facebook. If you would like to participate, click here. The winner will be announced on April 15th (entry deadline is April 13th) and will receive a ready-to-frame 8x10 photo of their choice (with matting and archival-safe backing) by Vancouver Island Photographer, Micki Findlay. To view photos go to our new Photography Shop and pick your favorite!

The winner's name will be posted with an announcement on our blog and their story will be featured. Free Gift Certificates and Upcoming Contests and Cool stuff like that!

I can hardly believe it is March 1st already! How did that happen and where was I? It seems that now that I am older, time goes by faster with each passing year! And today... where did today go? I wanted to make some things but it's already dinner time! Yikes! After spending time on the internet working on marketing ideas, cleaning out the fridge (that was scary) and buying groceries, the day is practically over. I just cannot believe it.

I know that my dear friend and business partner had a much more productive day. She created a new set of absolutely gorgeous greeting cards much like the ones on our Etsy site. These new ones are even more sumptuous and I love that they are all specific to Vancouver Island. She showed them to me via her webcam this morning and, even though I could not make them out perfectly, I could tell that she designed them with her usual flair and wonderfully creative eye. So tonight I had better get cracking and get a few things made! And I mean it!

Stay tuned because we will be announcing a cool contest in the very near future! I am not letting the cat out of the bag just yet, (or rather, the fish out of the net) but it won't be long.

Also, we are offering a free gift certificate to anyone who makes a purchase from our shop and then adds our shop link to Facebook or any other social network they belong to! Please read the details in the column on the right-hand side of our blog. (We will assign a secret # to each certificate that corresponds with the name of the customer.)
